Less than 3 seconds covers the top 4 at the front, with Stefan Mucke leading in the 007 Aston Martin Lola after passing Nicolas Lapierre at the start. Team mate Darren Turner is second in the 009 car, followed by the Speedy Racing car of Andrea Belicchi and pole-sitter Lapierre in the no. 10 Oreca.

The no. 16 Pescarolo has made rapid progress in the hands of JC Boullion and runs 5th while, in the other championship fight, Richard Lietz took a cautious approach to the opening laps and settled into 5th in GT2.

In GT1, Laurent Groppi leads from pole in the Larbre Competition Saleen, while in LMP2 the Quifel-ASM Ginetta leads, 7th overall, in the hands of Olivier Pla.
